We meet and chat through the objectives for the day and what people want to get from the course. Then a little workshop on how to plan your winter days using the Be Avalanche Aware model, discussing where to find and how to interpret the weather and avalanche forecast for a safe mountain journey. On the snow we will then focus on recapping/improving core skills on the snow; footwork, movement, step cutting, ice axe arrest.
On day two we will put into action our learning from day one on a little journey, with some input of some navigation on how to cope with adverse weather. Along the journey we will find some scenarios to chat through some basic ropework techniques i.e. snow anchors how to attach to the anchor and basic belay & abseil techniques to have in your 'toolbox' for your winter adventures.
