We meet and chat through the week ahead, and what people want to get from the five days. We then look at the weather and avalanche forecast and talk through the options. On the snow, we concentrate on good footwork and efficient movement, thinking about prevention is better than cure! Then we will look at what to do if we do take a slide. As always the objectives and the training areas will be weather and conditions dependent. The training focus will be on improving your core skills in the winter mountaineering environment.
This is what you have come for - ascents of major peaks in the west coast of Scotland. If conditions allow we could head for the iconic peak of Ben Starav, located at the end of one of the most famous glens in Scotland, Glen Etive.
Heading for another region in the west highlands , the mamores with some classic mountains to give us plenty of choice. If conditions are favourable we could attend to
We head a little east today to the iconic massif of Creag Meagaidh. We head past the former farm which is now part of the National Nature Reserve, run by Scottish Natural Heritage. Heading towards 'the window' which takes us through the magnificent corie ardair, an iconic ice climbing venue. Passing through the window, this takes us onto the plateau and onwards to the summit. We will reverse the route to return to the carpark.
On the last day we will plan around how people are feeling, potentially having a shorter day with weary legs. Potential option could be Buachaille Etive Beag, with a slighty higher start and shorter walk in.

Our courses involve outdoor adventures where weather conditions or unforeseen events could cause cancellations or prevent attendance. Having insurance ensures that you're financially protected if these situations arise. For example, many adventurers opt for specialized coverage such as Sports Cover Direct's offerings for canoe holidays or winter climbing, and the British Mountaineering Council also provides tailored policies for mountaineering activities. We encourage you to review these options and choose a policy that best suits your needs for peace of mind during your adventure.
