Real Meals, Real Ingredients—Even in the Wild
One of the questions we get asked most often is: “What’s the food like on a canoe trip?”
The answer: Fresh, hearty, and a lot better than you might think!
At Scottish Rock & Water, we believe that good food is part of the adventure. That’s why we go the extra mile to provide freshly prepared meals—even when we’re miles from the nearest shop.

What’s on the Menu?
Expect hot breakfasts, picnic-style lunches, and hearty, freshly cooked dinners. We use quality ingredients—local produce where possible—and always offer vegetarian and vegan options. There’s always a sweet treat to finish the day.
Dietary Needs? No Problem
We ask about dietary restrictions at the start of every trip and are happy to accommodate allergies, preferences, or special diets. Just let us know in advance, and we’ll make sure you’re well looked after.
How Do We Keep It Fresh?
It’s all about planning and a bit of Highland ingenuity! We use cool bags, careful packing, and regular resupplies to keep ingredients fresh. Our guides are masters at whipping up a great meal, even in the middle of nowhere.
Camp Cooking—The SRW Way
Cooking together is part of the fun. Guests are welcome to join in, learn a few tricks, or just relax by the fire while we handle the prep. There’s something special about sharing a meal outdoors after a day on the water.
A Taste of Scotland
Whenever possible, we use local produce—think Scottish smoked salmon, oatcakes, and Highland cheeses. It’s our way of supporting local businesses and giving you a real flavour of the region.
